  I can't give you the temps... but I can say that it is *NOT* warm enough to swim year round!

  The winter here (now)... months here are Dec, Jan, Feb.. Though Oct-Apr aren't at all bad though I'm not sure they are all swimming months....

  I think your first step should be to come and spend a month or two in Buenos Aires and Montevideo... a round trip... eyes inside apartments and neighborhoods that would fit your price range will give you the information you need.

  The key is to come down and check out the places.

  The smaller the towns the more difficult it will be to find an... rest of the year so I would recommend you rent for at least a year to get a good feel for it before you are committed....
